Oakland Avenue Reconstruction

The Village of Shorewood is reconstructing Oakland Avenue between Capitol Drive and Glendale Avenue. Construction began in February and will be completed in December 2026.

Traffic and Utility Impacts

Week of Monday, June 8, 2026

Water service connection work is scheduled to continue at individual locations within the 4400 and 4500 blocks.  

Thursday, June 11 beginning at 7 a.m.:  

  • Crews are scheduled to complete the final water main connection to Kenmore Place west of Oakland Avenue  
  • This work will require the water to be shut off for approximately two to four hours in areas near the intersection  

Friday, June 12 beginning at 4 a.m.:  

  • Crews are scheduled to complete final water main connection to Kensington Boulevard east of Oakland Avenue  
  • This work will require the water to be shut off for approximately two to four hours in areas near the intersection  

Night Work:  

  • Crews are scheduled to begin work at 4 a.m. on Friday, June 12 at the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Kensington Boulevard  

Long-Term Closures

Access to and from Oakland Avenue from the east is closed until mid-summer at:

  • Kenmore Place
  • Jarvis Street
  • Wood Place
  • Olive Street
  • Marion Street
  • Lake Bluff Boulevard
  • Kensington Boulevard
  • Glendale Avenue
